Handmade Easter – Candles in the Grass

Hello everyone! This post is going to be bilingual, so if you speak Italian, you can read below!

Today’s post is part of a collaboration of a group of 40 bloggers and crafters from The Creative Factory. We are all somehow interested in handmade projects and we do the most different things with our little, tiny, creative hands.

Easter is approaching, it’s less than a week away. I have been taught that Easter is the celebration of light and life, so I decided to fuse those things together and what came out of my mind was “Easter candles!”. We all know that candles remind everyone of Christmas and winter and fireplace lit, where you can relax and read, but Easter is a perfect moment for candles too.
It was also the occasion for the creation of a present for one of my friends, whose birthday was a week ago.

How do we create these Easter Candles?
First of all, we take – candles, of the length and shape you prefer;
– a hairdryer;
– different tissue napkins;

All you have to do is cutting out of the napkins the shapes you like (I chose flowers) or you cut the napkins so as to cover the whole candle. And this is the simple part. Then, you have to switch you dryer on and wait until the heat melts the wax of the candles, working as glue for the napkins we positioned on it. It takes a while (for the wholly covered candle it took me 40 minutes), so you can watch your favourite TV show in the meanwhile.

Isn’t this easy and cute?

The candles, the purple napkin, and the grass-y basket are from Tiger, if you are interested!
Happy Easter (in advance!)

(Italian Version!)

Ciao a tutti!

Prima di tutto, prendiamo – candele, della forma e lunghezza che preferiamo;
– un asciugacapelli;
– diversi tovaglioli;
– forbicicandles2

Buona Pasqua (in anticipo!)candles3

Lovely Empties (2)

During the last months I tried to finish up as many products as possible. I think I might have done a good job!

  1. Roberts Rose Water – the last step of my cleansing routine, the one product that removes everything that’s left on my face. But I’ll try something different.
  2. Nivea Sensitive  Micellar Water 3 in 1 – it is a good micellar water, but it doesn’t work so good with waterproof make up. I’m not buying it again.
  3. Essence pink Nail Laquer  (the name is long gone) – it’s not over, but it’s completely dry. It won’t write anymore.
  4. Sephora Ginseng Fiber Mask – once a month I need to take a bit of me time, and this mask is so easy to use!
  5. Garnier Shampoo and Conditioner for light hair – my hair is light-brunette and this two products help enhancing the blond reflections. I need to buy them again for the next summer!emtpies2

Monday Breakfast #13

It’s Monday. It’s spring, even though yesterday it rained and the sun is not going to shine even today. I had my hair cut (yay!) and I’m feeling a bit refreshed.

This weekend was a tough one, I hope the rest of the week will be better!

Monday Breakfast #12

Spring is so close, we can all feel it. Last week was a sequence of sunny, warm days, and I can’t wait to get rid of sweaters, even though I love them. It’s time for ballerinas and t-shirts (almost).

Easter is also coming really close! Spring break, here we come!

How are you getting ready for spring?

It would mean going back to 2009 and talking to a redhead-wannabe. I never dyed my hair, anyway. Very good idea, Valeria, you saved your hair from endless struggle to get your natural colour back.

Dear Valeria, you should quit re-reading the Twilight saga. You will in a couple of months, anyway, but you should focus more on those wonderful novels from Jane Austen that look suspiciously at you from the bookshelves; you already read one of them, Northanger Abbey, and you loved it. Go on, and finish them. Or by 2015 you won’t have yet.

Dearest Valeria, stop obsessing over the same kind of guys, those who don’t notice you. The one is coming just behind the corner, it’s not so far from you, I can almost count the days to your meeting (a very strange one indeed). Oh, wait, I was still 16 when I met him! So, yes, keep calm and he’ll come to you.

Dear little me, stop feeling unloved. That’s not true. Well, perhaps someone you think is near and dear to your heart really isn’t and you’ll have to find out in the worst possible way ever, but don’t worry, it is going to end. The loneliness you feel sometimes is already going away. Don’t focus on the sad side of your life, enjoy every minute you spend with a smile on your lips!

Dear me, you probably already know the enormous mistakes you’re going to make in a couple of years, they’re already there. I can’t warn you, or things won’t get better after them. Just remember that you don’t have to be afraid to ask for help.

Monday Breakfast #11

I should really wash my brushes, but I feel like I’m not 100% sure my soul wants it. I’m feeling lazy and perhaps I need a bit more motivation. My undergraduate paper is being written, but it’s so hard to find the necessary information. I feel as if my energy is getting lost.

I need a break. Easter is near, hopefully!

February Most Played

February has been a shorter month than usual, but I’ve worn a lot of makeup. (You won’t see any skincare product, because there will be a specific post on that)FebMP

Base-wise, I wore everyday Maybelline’s Nude Magique Eau de Teint in 120 – Pure Ivory (around 12€) , I have to admit, I love its texture, and to cover the blemishes after this light foundation I used Illamasqua’s Under-Eye Concealer in 200 (17.30€). It’s a bit too creamy, but it sets easily with powder.febMP1

My brows were tamed by Catrice’s Eye Brow Stylist in 120 – Don’t Let Me Brow’n (2.50€), a new staple in my sleepy morning routine. There’s plenty of pencils in my most played this month, and it’s because I wanted my lipstick to actually stay in place. Deborah’s Lipliner in 198 (5.20€) was my to-go lipliner every morning, before a natural lipstick. When I wanted my lips to be bolder I went for Max Factor’s Lip Liner in 12 – Fire (4.99£, but I think Fire is discontinued!), a strawberry red that stays perfectly in place. No words could describe its wonderfulness. Last pencil, Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Whiskey (19€), a matte medium brown, was the current eyeliner for my casual, daily look.febMP2

Eye-shadows that work are the ones I use the most, and Urban Decay’s Naked Basics (27.50€) palette will probably appear in every most played for the rest of the times. Really, I can’t imagine how I could blend eye-shadows before my boyfriend bought it for me!

The mascara I’ve used was NYC Big and Bold (3.50€), a volumizing and really black mascara.

Last, but not the least, the two lipsticks that were more frequently on my lips: MAC Cosmo (19€), a MLBB, and Astra’s Gilda (Less than 5€!), a brown-y red.

What are your February Most Played? Let me know in the comments!

Ps: remember to go and check Chiara’s blog!

5 Minutes… Before going to bed

I’m not late. It just took me five more minutes to join the Fellowship of the 5 Minutes tag, a project started by Redditude and Sue, two Italian bloggers that I love and worship. Yes, like I totally worship their style and their pictures.

Well, this tag is about the things you do 5 minutes before/after a specific time. The first one is 5 minutes before going to bed.

My night routine is divided into two parts: first, I take a shower/I took a shower previously at the swimming pool, then as soon as I get home I remove my makeup. But this happens before 9 pm. Just before heading to the soft pillows, I brush my teeth, since mine are especially delicate (hello dentist, I hope you’re reading it!), and I tie my hair back. I don’t sleep with the ponytail, but it’s much handier than loose, straight hair.5minutes3

I then apply Yes To Carrots Nourishing Daily Softening Hand + Elbow Cream, summer and winter, with no exception, because my hands and elbows are the only dry spots of my entire body. My elbows need so much care! 5minutes1

The last step is reading with my Kobo e-reader and texting. Until I fall asleep and the phone/Kobo fall on my face.

Monday Breakfast #10

Spring is coming ahead. You can almost hear those who have allergies preparing their tissues while birds sing.
A very stressful time is waiting for me: I have three important exams this semester and there’s just so much work to do! I feel like I can’t keep the pace, as if I was going to stay behind schedule. Well, I hope it won’t happen!
Do you remember the good intentions you wrote on January 1st? Have you already forgotten them? I bet it’s time to see if you have kept them during these two cold months!
